Ruja Ignatova's brother will be defended by John Gotti and El Chapo attorney

The first hearing of Konstantin Ignatov is scheduled for April 26th
Los Angeles arrested on March 6, Konstantin Ignatov, who has been arrested by US prosecutors as the current OneCoin leader, is already in New York and expects his first hearing before a court scheduled for April 26th. Bulgarians with a German passport are brother of Ruja Ignatova, the creator of the "cryptoftulata", which according to the prosecution is false and based on it is built a pyramidal scheme causing global damage for billions of dollars.

Ignatov has been charged with a conspiracy to commit fraud, which has been punished by a maximum sentence of 20 years. He is detained in a Manhattan Metropolitan Correctional Center, and the court has judged that he is not subject to bail because he has a high risk of absconding. His sister is in disarray, but she has also been charged with a number of charges totaling a maximum of 85 years in prison.

An interesting new element is who will represent Konstantin Ignatov in the beginning of the case. A reference to the US electronic judicial system, PACER, shows that this is Jeffrey Lichtmann , a well-known criminal lawyer from New York, whose biography is a number of signatures.

The pride of his office is to protect John Gotti Jr, who is believed to have been in charge of the Gambino mafia clan from 1992 to 1999 after the arrest of his father. In 2005, Lichtman managed to acquit a tribunal of three counts of murder and one for $ 25 million securities fraud. Over the years, his clients have been rap stars, television broadcasters and other public figures on various criminal acts - often murders and sexual assaults.

Lichtman's last name appears in the news as a Mexican drug dealer attorney Joaquin Guzman, known as El Chapo. Here, however, the office can not boast with great success - on February 12, he was found guilty of all 10 charges and is expected in June to be sentenced to life imprisonment. Until then he was detained in the same building as Ignatov.

It is not clear how much Ignatov will have to pay for his defense, but according to US media, Lichtmann's tariff on El Chapo's case was measured in millions of dollars.

Curious second defendant

The other interesting point, according to court documents, is that in the case of the US against Ignatov, besides Konstantin, there is also one unnamed accused. His name and the documents related to him are hidden by a court decision, so he can only speculate who he is and can not be confirmed.

It may be the co-founder of OneCoin Sebastian Greenwood, who was reported to have been arrested in Thailand and extradited to the United States at the end of last year. A possible explanation for not disclosing the name of an accused is that he has agreed to cooperate with the authorities.

For now, officially, except for Constantine and Ruzha Ignatov, there is clearly only one other accused in the United States. This is US lawyer Mark Scott , whom prosecutors say has claimed about $ 400 million from the OneCoin pyramid. He is accused in a separate case.
